Sebastien Loeb is (Probably) The Greatest Driver

Sunday, 3 October 2010, Sebastien Loeb won his home event, the Rallye de France. By winning this race, Sebastien Loeb also secured his 2010 World Rally Championship title, which is his 7th consecutive titles (2004-2010)! This 36-year-old French won all his titles riding Citroen with co-driver Daniel Elena.

Sebastien Loeb and Daniel Elena made their debut in WRC in 2002. They finished 2nd in 2003 Championship, only one point behind from the champion, Petter Solberg. After took his first drivers' title in 2004, Sebastien Loeb and his Citroen are unstoppable. He also won the total of 60 races, the most in WRC history. Even the WRC legend Tommi Makinen, who dominated the series in the 90's, only managed to won 24 rallies.


Sebastien Loeb victory this year set the record for the number of titles won successively in a motorsport competition. Although his 7th titles in WRC only matched another racing legend achievement, Michael Schumacher of F1, but Sebastien Loeb can be considered greater, because Schumi not won all his titles in consecutive years.


Seeing all of his achievements in WRC, who would've thought that Sebastien Loeb youth is very far from racing? In his school years, Sebastien Loeb is a gymnast, won several titles and ranked 5th in French national championship. During the year of 1994, in his 20th, he spent some time working as electrical engineer in Socalec company, near Haguenau airport, in his hometown.

In 1995, at age 21, he quit his job and classes and definitely turned his attention to racing. In 1998, Sebastien Loeb started entering events in the French Citroën Saxo Trophy series, winning the title in 1999. The 2002 season was Loeb's first as a WRC driver with the Citroën Total World Rally Team, when he was starting his tale as a sport legend.
